A Recap
Lets Get Litical is a political and philosophical podcast streaming in most places you go to to catch up with your fave podcasts. The podcast belongs to the wonderful Helen Femi Williams and is run by her alongside a very small team! We have Hannah as Producer, Yelz our wonderful audio guy and me (Shannon) who helps with the socials and is now doing the newsletter! I’ve been running the socials for a bit now on Insta and LinkedIn, but we felt that a newsletter would be a far better way to reach out and share the info we want to share. So! Here we are!
Each podcast episode is split into parts. We have ‘It’s Lit’. A section dedicated to some ‘lit’ news in the past week or that has suddenly re-entered the zeitgeist and deserves a mention. We then have ‘Unfortunate News’. This section is how it sounds and is dedicated to a bit of sad, frustrating, or downright outrageous news. And then we finally have the ‘Things We Won’t Care About Next Week’ section. This section is far more lighthearted and briefly covers what I think of as a bit of random news that has occurred during the week. Whilst the section title makes it sound like the topic is completely pointless, it’s usually fairly interesting, humorous or poignant in some form!
And each week this is exactly what this newsletter will cover! Alongside any important celebrations or days that deserve some recognition. We try to cover topics that not so many people are discussing and the stories come from all across the globe. Bear in mind that whilst I try to use a variety of online resources, each and every source I use had it’s own motivations and bias!

It’s Lit! (We’ve gone a bit crazy with the good news this week because why not?)
Whilst this isn’t new news, I felt like this was an interesting and helpful piece to add, especially if you’re someone who has or is battling with contraception of any kind! A woman called Alice Pelton founded a company called The Lowdown, a contraceptive review and advice platform! If you want to check out the site, follow this link.
Unfortunate News…
Things We Won’t Care About Next Week!
An artist in London has decided to literally live in a skip to highlight and make a point about the cost of living crisis.
I have decided to dedicate this last section to a video of the week. Pretty self explanatory, but just in case…it’ll be a video on someone/something/some event I have seen this week that has affected me and I think is worthy of a share. If you think you have a video worthy of this section, get in touch!
This video is so chaotic, but honestly I’m here for it…Also, it did actually teach me a lot about why politicians won’t just answer the bloody question.
Decided to share a more inspirational video of a Ted Talk by Stacey Abrams to end of this newsletter on a positive note.
